Maximum Performance in Packaging Labeling
With the new SPX V, Carl Valentin GmbH presents the latest evolution of its high-performance printing modules for industrial labeling on production lines. Designed for high-throughput applications, the SPX V combines maximum print speed with robust printing mechanics, flexible integration, and powerful, future-proof electronics.
Labels, textiles, and plastic materials can be printed reliably and in high resolution in both single-sheet and continuous feed modes. With speeds of up to 400 mm/s in direct thermal printing and up to 350 mm/s in thermal transfer printing, the SPX V offers significantly higher speeds than its predecessor. This is made possible, in part, by the reinforced feed motor included as standard.
The SPX V was specifically designed for integration into existing production and packaging lines. The print module can be installed horizontally or vertically and is available in both right- and left-hand versions. The removable and repositionable control unit allows for flexible adaptation to the specific installation situation.
The pressure mechanism has also been specifically refined. The new quick-change pressure roller allows for fast and convenient replacement. A contoured spring plate reduces the risk of injury during operation, while covers protect the adjustment screws from accidental adjustment. Extra-strong hinges securely hold the housing cover in place in any installation position and replace the previous gas spring mechanism.
With the new V-Series Core processor generation, the SPX V also gains a powerful technological foundation for the future. The modern TI Sitara processor, featuring ARM Cortex-A8 architecture, a 1 GHz clock speed, and up to 2,000 MIPS, offers many times the computing power of the previous processor. Combined with the significantly expanded memory and the 16-GB industrial SD card, the SPX V is ideally equipped to meet current and future requirements.
Flexibility has also been further increased in terms of interfaces and sensor solutions. The previous CF card has been replaced by a 16-GB industrial SD card. A Wi-Fi dongle can be retrofitted at any time and therefore no longer needs to be considered when selecting the device. For label detection, in addition to the proven through-beam and reflective light barriers, a new top-mounted variant is available with a mechanically adjustable scanning point.
The SPX V is suitable for applications with high label throughput, such as in mail sorting facilities, pallet labeling, or the marking of electronic components. Its robust construction and high-quality printing mechanism make it a reliable solution for continuous industrial use.
